Program Statement

Kids Connection Care and Education is a non-profit, charitable, community based organization, licensed under the Child Care Early Years Act of Ontario (formerly DNA). We became incorporated in 1991 and operate with a volunteer Board of Directors elected from parents and community members. The program focus is on the individual needs of the child, as well as the group needs.

We offer a developmental program that are nurturing and offers a safe environment for children that is sensitive to the multicultural needs of our community. We view each child as being competent, capable and curious. Our program is built on the foundations of belonging, well-being, engagement and expression. These foundations are a vision for all children’s future potential and what they should experience every day. Strong connections with families, educators and the environment are vital for the healthy growth and development of young children in our program. These will be cultivated through the four foundations for learning Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement and Expression as outlined in “How Does Learning Happen”, Ontario Pedagogy for the Early Years

Belonging
  • Each child in our program will have a sense of belonging where they are connected to others and the world around.
  • We aim to cultivate authentic, caring relationships and connections to create a sense of belonging among and between children, adults, and the world around them.
Well-Being
  • Each child in our program will develop a sense of self, health, and well being
  • We aim to provide a program that nurtures children’s healthy development and support their growing sense of self
Engagement
  • Each child is given the opportunity to be an active and engaged learner who explores the world with body, mind, and senses.
  • Our programs provide environments and experiences that engage children in active, creative, and meaningful exploration, play, and inquiry.
Expression
  • We encourage children to be capable communicators and express him or herself in many ways.
  • We foster communication and expression in all forms

Each child in our program will have a sense of belonging where they are connected to others. We aim to cultivate authentic, caring relationships and connections to create a sense of belonging among and between children, adults, and the community around them. Each child in our program will develop a sense of self, health, and well being. We provide program that nurtures children’s healthy development (within our lunches and snacks) and supports their growing sense of self. Each child is given the opportunity to be an active and engaged learner who explores their environment with body, mind, and senses.

Our programs provide environments and experiences that engage children in active, creative, and meaningful exploration, play, and inquiry. We foster and encourage children to be capable communicators and express themselves in all forms. We believe that parents are the experts when it comes to knowing their children. Throughout our programs, we support and validate all families and ensure they are represented and included in the daily life of the program.
It is the expectation that the program statement will be reviewed annually by the KCCE Board of Directors and Management Team. In addition, all employees, students and volunteers will review and acknowledge the program statement prior to employment, annually and in the event of modifications.

NOTE TO PARENTS

The new Child Care and Early Years Act have developed new criteria with respect to Program Statements. Through consultation meetings with the Ministry of Education, Licensing and Quality Assurance, our Program Statement has been drafted to meet compliance and will be revised and finalized by the Ministry once all our programs are licensed under Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA).
